Eat.Think.Smile Review and Giveaway

Today is quite possibly one of my favorite days of the year. The “Fall Behind” holiday.

Okay, maybe it is not exactly a holiday, but gaining an extra hour of sleep on a Sunday plus keeping tabs on my former soccer team, The University of Wyoming Cowgirls who are competing in Mountain West Conference Tournament Finals today AND watching the New England Patriots take down the Giants is a recipe for a mini holiday in my mind! SO, in honor of this fabulous day of gaining an hour, I thought I would celebrate with a present for some lucky readers….a giveaway of some FABULOUS goodies- Eat.Think.Smile Crispy Thins and Bars!

The Whole Eat.Think.Smile Lineup

Eat.Think.Smile is a new company and to be honest a few months ago I had never heard of them. However, my roommate came home a few weeks ago with some packages of the Red Raspberry and Sweet Cinnamon Crispy Thins . Being the curious person I am when it comes to food, I tried them out. So good! My first thought was that the Red Raspberry ones taste like a grown-up version of chocolate Teddy Grahams + a raspberry flavor kick and that the Sweet Cinnamon ones were a chocolatey version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. So I did some investigation in to these snacks, starting with the Nutrition Panel. Serving size of 46 pieces for only 130 calories (or 120 if you go with the Sweet Cinnamon) – hmm, not bad for a chocolate treat! Then, I checked out the website to learn more. If you are interested in the science behind their cocoa blend, or how cocoa is crafted, I highly recommend checking out the website for more information. While cocoa science is not my area of expertise, their nutrition scientist, Amy Preston, PhD, RD says that Eat.Think.Smile’s proprietary natural cocoa blend provides natural antioxidant power whereas other “better-for-you” snacks have to be fortified. Along with the Crispy Thins, Eat.Think.Smile also has Chewy Granola Bars, Baked Nutrition Bars, and Granola Clusters which are all made with their trademark cocoa blend!

I have not been able to choose a favorite between the Sweet Cinnamon and the Red Raspberry Crispy Thin, so I actually brought them to class with me the other morning to have a vote to see what others thought. The crowd was pretty split, although there were certainly some people VERY much in favor of the Red Raspberry! My classmates and I started talking about different ways to eat these snacks and we decided that they might be pretty good in cereal – so I tried it out. YUP! Awesome! The Eat.Think.Smile website also recommends the Crispy Thins as salad toppings as well, so I may have to try that out too! However, so far my favorite way to eat these is just plain on their own. Usually I refrain from eating snack-y products, especially chocolate ones since I am afraid I won’t be able to stop. This has really not been a huge problem with the Eat.Think.Smile products. I feel satisfied and as if my chocolate cravings have been met without needing to eat the entire package. Maybe that is the difference between eating real chocolate verse just “chocolate-flavored” snacks? Oh and another bonus – the resealable packs help to keep these snacks fresh! 🙂

I have never tried those…but it is a hard choice! I love cinnamon, but raspberries are my fave berries… Well, I think I would like the Sweet cinnamon 🙂

I have never tried, but sounds great. I think I would like the raspberries. I just was diagnosed with gestational diabetes so anything that is healthy is something I would like to try.

Improving connections, impvoring the connections between neighborhoods, and strengthening quality of life within neighborhoods:Sorry I missed this important meeting due to personal conflicts, but one of the things I’ve felt about Acton is the land development is not uniform (not a single shared image as someone stated) there is the West Acton downtown area, the school area, the East side (Great Road and adjoining neghborhoods) which have more shopping, the very rural North-west side (closer to Littleton) with plenty of conservation land, and central Acton with the Town center, library and side-walked Rt. 27.One thing I want to see improvement in is the quality of life within neighborhoods. Presently, my neighborhood the rural sleepy side nestled inside woods, deer, and really tall unstable trees adjoining our narrow roads makes it unsafe to walk, let alone bike. We still have a lot of downed trees, unattended for clean up. There are a lot of existing potholes, and I don’t see much activity in the neigborhood.I think we need to have roads in such rural neighborhoods paved with atleast 1 or 2 street lights per road, in addition to the long term development of sidewalks and bikepaths. Trees are a wonderful thing for a Green town, but when Mother Nature has started to take them down for every storm occurrence with the price of even more inaccessible roads, downed power lines and power outages, its time to seriously think about the infrastructure for connections between neighborhoods in Acton. Having missed the important session this week, I may be re-hashing some thoughts discussed, but am willing to help out in development of neighborhoods, while preserving the environmental character of Acton.

This brand has recently been popping up in my local grocery stores and I’ve wondered if it’s good. I think I’d go for Red Raspberry. (Just started following you on twitter and facebook.)

There was not a single person who did not like either the cinnamon or the red raspberry snacks. Some had a preference to one that they liked better. I had no one that told me those snacks that they tried were not delicious.
